U9G Round 14 Mayne Gold Vs Mayne Black

The boys were raring to go for their 2nd intra-club game against the black team.

Jack Croker captain for the day proudly led the team out through the banner to start proceedings. The black team came out firing on all cylinders as they strung some early goals together on the back of some great teamwork, they heaped the pressure on our centre combination of Jack C, Lucas & Harry. Our boys worked extremely hard to get their hands on the pill and were rewarded with some great link up play. A great mark down back from Alistair late in the term saw the footy move through the corridor and a pinpoint pass from Harry landed into the hands of Jackson who dodged and weaved to kick a goal to steady the ship.

As the 2nd qtr got under way it didn’t take long for the Gold team to get on the scoreboard. Onji was very strong with his centre clearances and was well supported by Alistair and Jack Johnson. Harry was the recipient of some great ball coming into the forward line and he didn’t waste his chance banging home several goals. The boys came in at half time pretty pumped and enjoyed some well-deserved oranges.

The 3rd term saw some great footy played by both sides, Jackson was strong across the centre of the ground. Baden threw himself into every contest that came his way even copping a stray boot to the face but this didn’t discourage his determination to get his hands on the pill. Henry also showed some great dash through the centre corridor. Brodie worked tirelessly across the forward line and Onji’s hard work up forward was rewarded with a great goal. Down back our boys Lucas, Alistair and Jack J marked up on their players brilliantly and really made the black team earn every kick.

In the last term we had some great team work on display out the centre with Jack C, Brodie, Lucas and Jackson. Harry again was on fire up forward slotting through 3 goals for the term and he was well supported by Alistair and Jack J who continually ran to space drawing a defender with them. Down back our boys Onji, Baden and Henry were stoic in defence. It was a great team effort across the park and the boys should be proud of their efforts.

It was hard for our team Manager Jonathan to pick the team awards this week as the whole team put in a fantastic effort. The awards went to 2 well deserving recipients in the ever consistent Jackson Noble and Onji Monoyoro who’s skills just get better week after week. Well done boys. A special mention to Jack Crocker who led the team brilliantly throughout the day great job Jack!

It was a great game played by both sides and was awesome to see them all come together in a circle to belt out a great rendition of Tigerland.

Go Tigers!
