U8G Round 9 Mayne Vs Wilston Grange Blue

Hard to believe its winter as beautiful conditions presented for the game against Wilston Grange Blue at home.

After last week’s washout our team captain Brodie was raring to go as he led the boys out onto the field. The Wilston Grange team was a player short so Jack C was happy to go and lend a hand for the 1st qtr.

It was a dominant first qtr by the Tigers as Brodie, Baden, Jack J and Henry repeatedly got the ball moving forward out of the centre. Harry was dominant up forward slotting several goals and he was well supported by Alastair C and Lucas. When the ball did get down the other end it was quickly shut down by Onji, Alistair G and especially Jackson who repeated ran the ball out of defence at will.

2nd qtr we welcomed back Jack C and Henry went over to the Wilston Grange team to help out.

Another centre clearance domination pursued as Jackson, Onji and Jack C worked well together to get the ball forward. Our forwards were seeing plenty of the pill with Brodie leading from the front kicking a few and Baden and Alistair G chiming in also.

The boys came into the main break pretty pumped. After getting stuck into the halftime oranges kindly supplied by the Monoyoro & Nobel Families the boys were eager to get back out to start the 3rd qtr.

Lucas swapped jumpers with Henry to go and assist the Wilston Grange team.

The Gorillas came out with some fight and an even contest followed. It was very pleasing to see Alastair C get amongst the possession’s, once he got his hands on the footy he was unstoppable. Special mention to Harry for some great teamwork in this qtr really getting his team mates involved. Up forward we saw some mercurial brilliance from Jackson in a dominating display of goal kicking.

Lucas came back for the last qtr and the grange boys had a handy player to fill the void in spectator Jack Gordon. The 4th qtr the Tigers didn’t let up, some inspirational smothering from our skipper Brodie really set the tone.

The game was by far the most consistent 4 qtr’s the team has displayed this season. Our team player award went to our Captain of the day Brodie his attack on the footy for sure was the benchmark for the day. Alastair C rewarded for his break out qtr received an award for his efforts also.

To Jack C, Henry and Lucas thank you for making up the numbers for the Wilston Grange team.

Keep up the great work team Go Tigers!
